When Steve and Stacy Byam moved from Maine in 2004, they had no idea that they would one day be owning a bar. Making plans to open a Duck Pin Bowling establishment, their vision changed. While the bar they often frequented was a decent option to grab a beer, they both knew that it could be so much more. So, in 2022 when the owner talked about selling the bar, they jumped at the opportunity. In only 2 ½ years they have rebranded, added food options, and changed the beer rotations all while raising two daughters.
Although Steve can be found in the Fountain Inn Taproom on most evenings and weekends, Stacy oversees running the business while Steve continues to work his full-time day job. Having felt so much support from the community, Stacy enjoys being a woman business owner in downtown Fountain Inn. One of Stacy’s tips to success is to “listen to our customers” and actually make the changes they ask for. Adding food options such as panini’s and salads to their food menu and adding international selections of beer after multiple requests from customers are some examples of changes that she has made.
A Haven for Craft Beer Lovers
One of the draws the Byam’s had to the location was due to its capability of being more than just a place to grab a drink—it's a community hub, a haven for craft beer lovers, and a destination that perfectly blends Southern hospitality with the art of brewing. Whether you’re a seasoned beer aficionado or just someone looking for a relaxed spot to unwind, the Taproom offers something for everyone.
A Curated Selection of Brews
What sets the Fountain Inn Taproom apart is its dedication to showcasing the best in craft beer. With a rotating lineup of taps featuring local, national, and even international breweries, every visit offers a new opportunity to discover a favorite brew. From hoppy IPAs and smooth stouts to crisp lagers and innovative sours, the Taproom caters to all palates. Not sure what to try? The knowledgeable staff is always ready to guide you through the selection and help you find your perfect pint.
More Than Just Beer
While beer is undoubtedly the star of the show, the Fountain Inn Taproom understands the value of variety. For non-beer drinkers, the menu often includes a curated selection of ciders, and non-alcoholic options. Red and white wine are options and recently, liquor has been added.
A Community Gathering Place
Beyond the drinks, the Fountain Inn Taproom serves as a vibrant community space. Regular events like trivia nights, live music performances, and the only bar around that offers Open Mic Night. The Taproom’s ambiance strikes the perfect balance between rustic charm and modern comfort. Whether you choose to sit at the bar, cozy up in a corner with friends, or enjoy the outdoor patio, the space invites you to relax, connect, and savor the moment. Recently finishing a rebrand, Fountain Inn Taproom is your place to FIT in.
“It’s a family business”, Stacy says. Both of her kids help when they don’t have activities. So next time you are in Fountain Inn, whether you’re a local looking for your new favorite hangout or a traveler passing through, the Fountain Inn Taproom is a must-visit destination. With its exceptional selection of beverages, warm atmosphere, and community-driven events, it’s more than just a taproom—it’s an experience. So, grab a pint, raise a glass, and toast to the good times waiting to be had at Fountain Inn Taproom!
