The Sounds of Summer Concert Series was a huge success last Friday night. With over 3,000 people coming out to support the ribbon cutting and to listen to Randomonium, the night was full of fun. Mayor G.P. McLeer began the evening by officially “opening” the city’s stage on Depot Street. As part of the celebration and a special treat for guests, there were free cookies and water bottles handed out to kids and to those kids at heart! Anyone who didn’t have dinner before they came out had all the spectacular Main Street dining options such as Farehouse, Cucina100 and Henry’s BBQ but, there was also Chick-Fil-A and Voodoo Brewing with additional food options. The Chill Factory and Kona Ice were also on-site to help keep everyone cool. We didn’t want anyone to get thirsty, so Taproom made sure to have a beer tent close by! When the music started, the crowd quickly began to get up and get their groove on.

randomonium

Randomonium is a band made up of lead singers and husband and wife, Sean and Heidi Champman along with many extremely talented musicians including John Bellino, Tim DeLisle, Dennis Brennan, Jason Wolfe, Andrew Welchel, Mark Shirley and Darren Sip. Due to their highly entertaining and brilliant performances along with their large catalog of music, they have a rather hefty following in the Upstate. This past show was the first time that they played in Fountain Inn and we hope they had as much fun as us and will come back!

Summer Concerts Every Summer

Sounds of Summer is an annual summer concert series held on Friday nights from May to August. The City of Fountain Inn, along with sponsorships from local businesses provide the entertainment for free to families and live music lovers from all over South Carolina. Each Friday the music genres change from blues to 80’s to Classic Rock. Additionally, there are often multiple food vendors to grab something to eat or something sweet. A child’s fun zone is always available with the activities also changing weekly from inflatable laser tag to wack-a-mole and even a giant obstacle course. This new covered stage has created an inviting gathering space for young and old alike. “It feels like a neighborhood block party”, one spectator said.

The goal is to continue to provide summer concerts where residents can come out with their family and enjoy a relaxing and entertaining evening. This season included 12 live shows with an additional special evening coming up August 16th as the Fountain Inn Fury march from the school to Depot Street where Ryan Spencer will perform a concert to kick off the 2024-2025 school year.
